This is probably one of my favorite classes to teach, it’s not so much about the technical “use that tool” type stuff but about the why’s and what-for’s of logo animation. So much attention is given to the technical, that we sometimes forget why we like a logo, or why we like the “Sit Ubu, good dog” enders after TV shows, before video games, and station ID’s.

So the next time you’re watching TV, think about why the Nickelodeon logo “splats on”, or the ABC logo is surround by that “mystery water” – is it on purpose?
